Valladolid, Yucatán, is a hidden gem for food lovers, offering a mix of traditional flavors and international cuisine.

Whether you’re craving sushi, contemporary Mexican dishes, or a taste of Yucatecan tradition, this charming colonial town has something for everyone.

Here are my favorite places to eat in Valladolid, plus a special mention of a must-visit spot in nearby Ebtún.

Itamae Sushi

A lot of loving happening here, at the hot table at Itamae

If you think sushi and Valladolid don’t mix, think again. This is one of our family’s favorite places!

Itamae Sushi is a fantastic spot for those craving Japanese cuisine. The fish is fresh, the rolls are creative, and the presentation is always on point.

One of my favorite rolls is the «Kakiage Roll,» which perfectly balances flavors and textures. The cozy ambiance makes it an excellent place for a relaxed meal with friends or family.

Sikil

Even picky teenagers clean the plate

*For an elevated take on Mexican and Yucatecan cuisine, Sikil is a must-visit. This is our treat restaurant for anniversaries and birthdays: it’s romantic, their cocktails are amazing, and it has air conditioning. *

The restaurant takes its name from the traditional Mayan dip made from ground pumpkin seeds, and its menu reflects a deep respect for regional ingredients.

From their innovative dishes to their beautifully plated meals, Sikil delivers an unforgettable dining experience. Their use of local herbs and spices creates flavors that stay with you long after your meal.

Meson del Marques

Cochinita pibil: our most beloved dish

Brunching is our love language, and my husband and I go to Meson del Marques often to have breakfast together on the weekends. My favorite: the papaya jelly and the basket of toast and my husband swears they sell the best Lomitos de Valladolid in the city.

Located in the heart of Valladolid, inside a stunning colonial building, Mesón del Marqués offers a perfect blend of history and gastronomy.

Their cochinita pibil, a Yucatecan slow-roasted pork dish, is one of the best in town. The restaurant’s open-air courtyard adds to the charm, making it a wonderful place to enjoy traditional Yucatán cuisine while soaking in the historic atmosphere.

Oriundo Hotel Restaurant

Fuel: milky coffee in the morning

*Another favorite for breakfasts, we also like inviting people for brunch at this restaurant. The 360° views of the jungle are amazing. *

Nestled within the elegant Oriundo Hotel in Valladolid, this restaurant offers a refined dining experience that beautifully blends regional Yucatecan flavors with international cuisine.

The ambiance is intimate and sophisticated, perfect for a romantic dinner or a special occasion.

A Special Mention: Tío Chiff in Ebtun, Yucatán

Do not let the plastic table distract you from The Flavor.

While not in Valladolid itself, Tío Chiff in the nearby town of Ebtún is well worth the trip.

This hidden treasure is famous for its generous portions and incredible flavor. Specializing in the local dish Poc- Chuc, Tío Chiff serves dishes that are both comforting and unique.

This has remained one of our local favorites, and the hospitality makes you feel right at home.

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re a local or a visitor, these restaurants showcase the best of what Valladolid has to offer.

From sushi to Yucatecan specialties and a surprise fusion gem in Ebtún, each spot brings something special to the table.

Next time you’re in the area, be sure to check them out—you won’t be disappointed!
